I've also had a go at some more sewing and decided to make some more bunting :-) I do love bunting, I really do! This was made up of a mixture of old clothes, Ikea fabric and ends from Leon's Fabric Superstore in Chorlton. Love love love it!

Lovely bunting
It's been a busy time here but nothing gets in the way in a bit of crochet goodness! The Granny Square blanket I've been working on for the last year is so nearly finished now and it's been getting some good responses so I am really really pleased.

I've also had a go at some more sewing and decided to make some more bunting :-) I do love bunting, I really do! This was made up of a mixture of old clothes, Ikea fabric and ends from Leon's Fabric Superstore in Chorlton. Love love love it!

Happy Bank Holiday :-)
I've got lots of little crochet projects to show you (very exciting!) which I've been working on over the last couple of weeks and have only just got round to uploading to my Flickr account. I've wanted some bunting for aaaaageeees and I've seen various tutorials on how to make hearts but my favourites were the ones on Lucy's blog / flickr (Attic 24) although the tutorial is from Bella Dia .
I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do with them (and only really started after buying a stash of pink wool) but they've ended up becoming bunting (surprising!) and I'm very chuffed! Have a go, they are very easy to make (if I can, ANYONE can)
I haven't totally given up on my monster blanket, in fact I think I've got less than 20 squares left to make, and these are the middles needed. I'm out of the green and purple wool so relying on my friend having some left over or it will be an unfortunate* trip to Abakhans.
*By unfortunate I mean really really good!
Last but not least I thought I'd better get round to showing you my mittens, even though it's May now and becoming quite warm! I'm really please with them although to be honest I could have picked a better colour choice. They will do for now :-) They areloosely hugely inspired by Attic 24 again although I actually made them in the same way the jar cosies were made, just starting the next round a few crochets later for the thumb holes and finishing earlier, this means there's no seam down the side :-)

Happy New Year
Well I had a feeling this might happen because my patients is about as long as a caterpillar (I even stopped writing this sentance to pick at my fingernails) and I loose interest in things very quickly - it is a wonder I am still making this blanket because it will be a year come March! So yes I did expect that blogging would fall by the wayside but I suppose this is better late than never.
I have moved flats and this is very exciting because I have the sun now all day long (when it's out) and things are warm! I've seen people move into my old flat (I didn't move far at all!) and I feel sorry for how cold they will be.
Enough about that, this is the blanket so far! I'm 10 rows in so thats just over half way, cannot-believe-it! It's definitlely going to fall into March though but I guess a year isn't bad by my standards.
These flowers are making me smile too, I got the vase / jug in TKMaxx today (another impulse buy) and I couldn't be more pleased with it!
This blue and white cushion is a new addition to the already full-of-cushions sofa but I think it's quite a nice one, unlike the ugly cushion below. People seem to like it! The colours are bad. They used to be in the blanket but I decided early on to omit them (apart from the odd middle here and there) and I'm so glad I did.

What the grannies are for
In my tiny window of half an hour i.e my lunch break at work, I've been putting together some of the completed squares! I am really excited, it looks so much better than I expected, but I know when I finish this row I'm going to have to go back and make more granny sqaures because they're not all finished! Here is a sneak preview

September Granny Squares
With the help of Chorlton Knits and inspiration from the blogs I’ve been reading and endless blankets I come back with from Oxfam at festivals, I’ve been crocheting squares to make my own granny blanket. I made loads in a variety of colours but it just wasn’t working, so I’ve cut down from 10 to just 6 which is much better. It’s going to be 18×18 so will take a while but here’s how its shaping up so far!

Getting creative
Hello! I've been obsessively crocheting squares (I have 57 to date!) so not been very good at updating... Annoyingly the first few I've done (light blue and mauve) are massive compared to the rest so they might not fit together properly as a blanket...
I've so far taught 2 others to crochet and I'm dead lucky because one of them is making squares for me!
Mmm coloured spools of thread (ebay is great for bargains!)
And last but not least my beautiful* sewing machine! I was disappointed after buying the Mini JL because it would neither sew very thin material nor much thicker - so nothing actually. That went back and in it's place and only £28 more I got this Brother LS2125 and it's (touch wood) so far, perfect!
*May not be beautiful to most people :-)

Granny Squares Part 2
After 2 evenings at the knitting club I've finally learnt how to crochet granny squares. I'm working on a blanket so it will probably take a few months but I'm quite confident I'll finish this one. My biggest problem is finding wool in colours I like, these are fine for now.
