Tuesdays Tallies: five

One a Day Banner

Running out of yarn is never a good thing but it's even worse when you're right-at-the-end of a project!!!

Now I have to be honest, I've actually sewn in all my hexagons but I don't think it's quite long enough so I decided to make another two rows - in doing so I've decided I'm not going to post any more blanket photos until the end... Yeah I know, that's really mean isn't it! x

I only had a few to make so I whipped them up quite quickly :)

Hexagons round four

Sorry for the terrible lighting... I wanted to photograph them before I started on the cream edge...

Hexagons round four

It's the cream edge that's causing the grief! For some reason unknown to any logic, when I ordered my last lot of Stylecraft I thought to myself "shall I buy more cream, I'm running low" and then decided not to. And then I ran out.

I decided to frog this for the cream lines (and also because I decided I didn't like it and I'm never going to put my laptop away anyway) and I didn't even take a photo before - it was at least twice as big!

Laptop bag

I ran out of that thinking I'd put a edge on every last one and then found more hexies I'd lost under the sofa... So I ripped out the very last cream row of this!

Tuesdays Tallies: four

Ahhh so they were dahlias!!  A virtual prize by virtue of more flower and crochet pictures for anyone who got it right and a thank you from me because it was quite annoying not knowing...

One a Day Banner
Welcome back to Tuesdays Tallies.  I have lots to show you :)  On Sunday after all the excitement of our 6 gold medals the day before (I am loving the Olympics!!!), J and I took a trip to the New Smithfield Market which is basically a massive bar boot not far from us.   We've been passed loads of times and I quite like rummaging for bargains but we'd never been.

Neither of us are morning people so we didn't get there til gone 11 so I assume all the "good stuff" had gone as there was a lot of tat left. There were SO many VCR players, boxes of tangle cables, old games, junk, more junk...! I did find two pretty tins which I bagged (and haggled!) for £1.50 so I can't complain too much.  They say tea & sugar on the back but they'll probably become pots for crafty things.

My crochet hook's been pretty much non stop this week, when I'm not screaming at the telly "GO GO GO!!! RUUUUNNNNN!" or popping to that pesky place called work.  Round four is done and there are even borders with ends ready to be sewn together.  I like it this way - I hate sewing in ends but the ends sew the hexies together.  Simples.

I even got to crochet outside for a whole ten minutes before black clouds decided to plant themselves in front of the sun. Lovely...

And just after I'd watered these it started to rain.  Yay!

So all hexies are ready to be sewn in and then I can see how many more I might need...  Luckily this bit (from what I remember the last time I did this) is quite quick

Excitement!!!
This was the sky last night.  How epic!

Tuesdays Tallies: three

One a Day Banner

Hello :-)

Allotment

I had some fab comments to my last post, how about using a tea pot as a yarn holder?! Sounds hilarious but it's brilliant :D

My pretty panniers arrived but alas... They really were a case of style over substance :( Obviously intended to stay on your bike (which might be ok if you live in a lovely village and not Manchester) and no handles / strap to carry off the bike. They were also so long my heels kicked them every time I pedalled! Needless to say I had to return them :( I got a bargain pair of black bags (exactly what I didn't want!) but they're much easier to fit and have a very good handle system - so ends le pannier saga :)

I've been furiously crocheting while watching the Olympics and I've finished round three! I'm actually a little further on than that now but I thought I'd spread out my progress :)
Hexagon round three

Round three might well be my favourite...

Fab :D

My yarn arrived from deramores so I've caught up on all the rounds I couldn't complete too.

Aside from panniers and crocheting we visited J's parents allotment and I spotted these beautiful flowers - no idea what they are but the colours were stunning!

The weird mix of rain / sun / rain / sun has done wonders for my plants too. I'll have to get some new photos of them soon. Right, back to watching the swimming finals now!

Tuedays Tallies : two

One a Day Banner

Hello, welcome back to my Tuesdays Tallies :) If you click the banner above you can visit Caroles blog and find out more about other people taking part. I'm really thrilled about how much progress I've been making after such a long break. The irony is the sun's come out & it's way too hot for a blanket!

Truck 15th Anniversary

I spent the weekend away at Truck Festival in the absence of Glastonbury this year and it was brilliant! I even bumped into someone I know from work which was really really weird. I got very sunburnt too so I'm taking it nice and easy at the minute!! I did miss crocheting though...

Hexagon round two

Last week I concentrated on making my middles (my least favourite of the process) so THIS week I had the lovely job of doing round two, which is much more exciting because I've been using more colours!

Hexagon round two

Doing round two is super quick and there's really not much to it; just some clusters of trebles.

Hexagon round two

I've realised I'm running low on Saffron, Clematis, Aspen and I'm all out of Turquoise! Luckily Deramores has all of these in stock AND 15% off all yarns :D WIN :)

Hexagon round two

So now I cannot wait to start round three... I know this really is more than "one a day" but hey ho :) I'm going to bend the rules a little and say my effort is "give it a go once a day" :p

Tuesdays Tallies: I'm back!!

One a Day Banner

I am really excited about re-joining the One a Day project run by Carol at Gingerbread Girl because I really think I'm going to finish my hexagon blanket soon :)
Week 9

My last Tueday's Tallies post was back in November but I just got so busy with Christmas and other crochet / knitting projects I decided to stop for a bit. I just didn't mean for so long!

I decided before re-joining to have a target for my blanket and having measured it out I think I may only need another 58 hexagons, possibly an extra row after that and then the border.

Hexagon middles

I also decided instead of making one hexagon at a time I'd start a mini production line...

Hexagon middles

So I very quickly hooked up all the middles I'll need!

Hexagon middles

And now I'm about to start on round two... It feels good to be getting to the end of this :)

Tuesdays Tallies: 9

One a Day Banner

I'm mixing things up a bit and having my Tuesdays Tallies on a Wednesday! I forgot about the clocks changing so when I get home from work now it's too dark to take photo but this was all rectified today at lunch time :-) I now have 61 One-A-Day hexagons which including all those I already had is a grand total of 140!! Woo hoo!

Still no idea when I'll be stopping but soon I hope because I've just taken delivery of another stylecraft batch (two massive bags!) and I'm going to embark on a ripple for some spring time babies!

Click the One-A-Day banner above to visit Caroles site and see other One-A-Day projects. Some people are finished now!

Here's mine :-)

Tuesdays tallies: 8!

Hi hi hi! Guess what!!! I completely mis-counted my hexagons when I was playing catch up so instead of being 3 days behind I am actually 3 days ahead - WOO HOO!!

:-D

Welcome to Tuesdays Tallies week 8!

One a Day Banner

I forgot it was Tuesday and nearly stayed late at work, then I remembered and had to rush home to catch the light for photographing! When the clocks change I think I'll have to wait til the weekend :-(

I haven't sewn in my new hexies yet (or edged many of them) so there will be lots of fun this week doing that. I quite enjoy it actually and I sew my ends in as I go along - not because I'm one of those annoying people (!!) but because I use Sarah Londons joining method which you need to use a needle for (so you might as well keep sewing!) and I sew the hexies together. Trust me if it wasn't for this my ends would be very much loose!

So time for a mega catch up then!!

Please click the One a Day banner to visit Caroles blog and give her encouragement along with the other people joining it - it really is difficult to keep up and we're all trying our best :-)

Right time to pick up J now, I'll be blogging later about more cables and hook handles!!
