Hello Twenty Thirteen

Happy New Year my lovelies :D It's good to be back but I can't tell you how much I wish it were still the holidays, even though I know it wouldn't be as special if it lasted forever. We spent a very long week down at my folks in London, although a week didn't seem long enough in the end!

Christmas Day was very chilled out and merry. I was up early to see my brother before he had to work (!!) which meant opening presents, followed by more presents when J got up (fair-isle slippers!), followed by party food for lunch, mulled wine, dinner making, a nap, plying my parents with alcohol while they were being busy, my brother coming home still in good spirits, more presents, Christmas Dinner, Christmas Crackers, Trivial Pursuit (my Dad lost) Christmas Pudding and then bed.

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas, or if that's not your thing a peaceful end to the year :)

I can't quite believe where the year has gone but looking back at my projects for the year sort of puts things into an order I can make sense of! I really enjoyed making little mosaics at the beginning of last year so I've done the same now, only this time I've discovered Pic Monkey which is a brilliant website for making collages, mosaics and editing photos - a huge time saver.

There are four projects from last year that I've finished which was one of my 2012 resolutions, but I've also started this year with more unfinished WIPs. Oh well!

2012 collage
1. Hexagon blanket - completed :)
2. A stockinette stitch cushion cover. I've cast on too many stitches for the cushion inner I have so I may start this again...
3. Spring Garden Granny Squares. These haven't worked out so well when joined, I'm wondering whether to make more squares in different colours and make a small lap blanket...!

4. Nanny throw. I don't think this is a project I've blogged about yet so more about this later!
5. Bubble Gum Ripple Blanket
6. Pomegrante snood.

7. Little Woolie Inspired Cushion. I should finish this soon, I've only got a few more rows to do!
8. Ribbed Phone Cover
9. Stripy Snood

2012 collage

1. Crochet hook handle, made from Fimo
2. Moss Stitch Scarf
3. Crochet owl

4. Crochet Father Christmas
5. Knitted bunting
6. Knitted cable hat

7. Bunting
8. Knitted cat mouse hat
9. Polka dot skirt

2012 collage

1. First pomegranate snood
2. Turquoise cable hat
3. Lingonberry biscuits :)

4. Winter striped scarf
5. Snowflake Christmas card
6. Chunky mustard snood

7. Pink fluffy scarf

I've got loadssss of other things to show you that I started over the holidays too, lets cross our fingers for some good weather this weekend and I'll try to get some half decent photos to share :)

Tuesdays not so tallies. It's not even Tuesday!

Wow! I've just been so busy making hexagons I didn't have time to post my third Tuesdays tallies.

Do you want to see all my hard work? Here it is!

....

....

....

Um... Oh wait... I haven't actually made any hexagons whatsoever this week. FAIL! I really do feel like a terrible failure - not even one! Not even the middle circle of one. Nothing :-(

Sadness!

But... In my defence I have been really busy! I have a few finished projects now and repetative strain injury of my middle left hand finger (it's the yarn tension) so I'm in serious need of knitting/crochet rehab. No more til next Tues when I'm back from London.

Sorry!!

Do you want to see CJ though? I love him, I don't really want to part from him.....!!

TA-DAH!!!!!!

CJ

I love his vacant expression. He looks very confused! The funny thing about him is I spent ages making his front stripes stop half way across so he'd have a pink belly but then I put the pouch on and you can't even see!

See how he's a bit of a Danger monster and a bit not? The face is the same as Rebecca Dangers monsters and I used her pattern for the pouch but the patterns from Quilty's Corner which is a fab blog and looks to have some other very neat patterns I want to try!

CJ

I found a video demo for how to knit in the round with a circular needle instead of DPNs and I've made a start on a Daphne leg so we'll see if I manage this a little more successfully! ALittleBitSheepish also gave me a good tip for working in a small round in the comments bit of my last post which I'll try if circulars don't work either so thanks very much!

Drops Paris yarn

I also had a bit of a yarn de-stash but only a little one!

This is some of the leftover Drops Paris from my first granny stripe blanket. I may complain about it's splittyness but I really love the vibrant colours!

Drops Paris yarn

I decided to use this for a phone pouch for another friends birthday because I think it will be really durable and won't start to bobble like mine has!

I hope it's the right size, it's for an iPhone but I don't have one so I made a cardboard one which was so rubbish!

Ugh I need to pack now because I'm going to London tomorrow. I love going to London but I hate packing and always procrastinate until the last minute!

Take care all your knitty crochety bloggy people!

In rainbows

Hello! Happy Wednesday afternoon :-) The weather is absolutely lovely here, it feels like we might have a proper summer afterall! It's a shame it wasn't like this on Friday because my mum took me to the RHS Hampton Court flower show (and you know how I love gardening!) and it rained quite a lot. Nothing was going to stop us from enjoying ourselves and getting down to some serious plant buying; we just hid in the Rose tent while the rain did it's thing :-)

I present to you the product of two women and a garden show! Thank goodness my brother came, I don't know how we'd have carried everything. He took many many more photos (I took 4...) so as soon as he gets them online I'll pick out a few good ones to show you.

So onto more crafty things then. You may remember back here I said I'd been part of a Ravelrly swap and got sent loads of amazing yarn, well I finally put some of it to very good use!

Phone pouch

I've made a little phone pouch for my android incase I drop it, which I have a habit of doing! It's a very simple design, just rounds of trebles, slip stitched at the end so there's no seam.

I found a cute button in my button stash (from an old top) and made a little chain ring to fasten.

Phone pouch

It was a really quick project which is something you need from time to time isn't it? I have so many long term projects on the go (I actually have 4 WIPs on the go now...!) so it's nice to see something finished for once.

Although improvised the general gist of this pattern is from Lucys jar jackets (I call them jar cosies!) over on Attic 24, so you can pick up how to make it properly over there. I just stopped doing rounds when I reached the top of the phone and did stripes for a flap.

Right I'd better be off because I have a million and one things to do, but I've lots of posts to share so hopefully I'll be back very soon :-)

P.S I have 38 followers!!! I'm on the slow count up to 40 when I'll be having a little celebration :-D Thanks guys x

P.P.S! I knew I'd seen inspiration for the pouch and I just stumbled upon it! Sahm Saritha at Rainbow Bunting made a very lovely pouch for a friend and although the colours are very different it definitely made me want to make one!
